Last year I started buying these up as back issues...knowing full well in advance that only after I spent all that money and completed the set, DC would announce a collection. It's just some kind of perfect instinct I have.
Anyway...O'Neil's scripts haven't aged well for me (in anything; I just have a lot of trouble reading his stuff) but the Sekowsky-written stuff is surprisingly good, and of course the art is glorious throughout. I award this collection five bullets and bracelets, sight unseen!
I anticipate cringing over much of the writing, but can't wait to see Big Mike's art all in one place. I hope an upcoming volume will include her B&B and JLA stuff - it looks like it'll take about four volumes to get though the run at this rate.
So, if we want a DC collection, can we front you the money to track down all the back issues? Arak, anyone?
